The day is Sunday 13th February 2005...
After a long grueling Saturday event at Belangkan, we were all looking forward to being the "jemputan" for the event in Bongek. Everyone were up early. After breakfast and a little cleaning up of the compound from yesterdays 'kenduri' we were all dressed in the colour theme of the day...purple.
Ustaz Rahman Deli (the imam besar of Masjid Jamek Kuala Sawah) performed a small 'doa selamat' prior to our departure to Bongek...an honour accorded to only few...
A black Merz donned with ribbon, courtesy of Tuan Rashid was ready to take the "pengantin" in style. Yours truly of course have to ferry Tuan Rashid's family in the Wira much to the kid's excitement.
ETA in Bongek 1.00pm...
The entourage from Belangkan came to around 12 cars including the posh Merz...a number beyond the control of the family...seems that everyone is equally excited to tag along to Bongek. After all, this is the last and final wedding from Belangkan family.
We arrived in Bongek on time and congregated at a neighbour's house...three lots from the grooms family house. The kompang group comprising of teens were ready to announce our coming to the grooms house. After a little shuffling and arranging of hantaran and people we started our slow walk accompanied by the kompang group.
Upon reaching the house compound, we were greeted by the Bongek family and were briskly ushered to the house for the 'bersanding' ceremony. The purple 'pelamin' (dais) was the focus of everyone once the 'pengantin' were seated. There was no 'merenjis' event but only 'bersalam-salaman' with the 'pengantin' by family members from Belangkan and Bongek with photo taking.
Soon after, we were ushered to the feasting area...yum yum. It was buffet-style for the guest. Yours truly had the honour to join the 'pengantin' with special dishes.
By 3.30pm our hungry stomach have been taken care of and we were ready to head back to Belangkan. After greetings and well wishes to the 'pengantin' and family we headed back to Belangkan.
All the preparation and hard work for the wedding has finally come to an end...not really!! Back in Belangkan the dirty dishes, pots and pans are waiting to be cleaned.
It'll be really over once the house is back in its normal state...
Thats the end of the Wedding episode....
